It's worth noting that while some accounts — such as a Dodl ISA or general investment account — allow withdrawals, this isn’t the case for all account types.

Please remember that you can’t withdraw from your Dodl pension, as this account is designed to grow pension savings only. Once you reach age 55, increasing to 57 in 2028, you can transfer your pension to another provider to be withdrawn.

When withdrawing from a Lifetime ISA, you will have to pay the government 25% withdrawal charge if you are not over the age of 60 or your withdrawal is not when you’re buying your first home.

Help with gambling

If you’re worried that you or someone close to you has a gambling issue, don’t struggle alone. Help is available.

Investing can be a rewarding experience when your investments increase in value. It can feel like a big win. But investing isn’t gambling. Investing frequently over short time periods is high risk and can lead to losses.

Losses can leave you feeling very low and with an overwhelming urge to invest more to make up for those losses. If this pattern of behaviour is happening regularly and you feel out of control, you might be struggling with gambling.

Signs to seek support:

🔔 You’re increasing the amount of money you’re investing with to make up for losses

🔔 You’re investing more money than you can afford to lose

🔔 Your investing is leaving you struggling to pay the bills

🔔 You’re taking out loans to fund investments

🔔 You’re hiding spending or investment activity from friends and family

🔔 You’re experiencing poor physical or mental health because of your investments, such as difficulty sleeping, mood swings or anxiety

If any of the above signs feel familiar to you please get in touch and we can help. The team can talk you through your options and put a temporary dealing block on your account.

Concerned about online scams

We understand how worrying it can be to receive suspicious messages or feel unsure about the safety of your account. Whether you're simply concerned or believe you may have been the victim of a scam, we're here to help.

📨 Contact us as soon as possible.

If you think your account has been compromised or you've been contacted by someone claiming to be from our team but you're unsure, please get in touch with us straightaway at hello@dodl.co.uk. We’ll begin investigating your concerns immediately and do everything we can to help you feel safe again.

Tips to stay safe online

Here are some practical steps you can take to protect yourself:

✅ Be cautious with communication: We will never contact you via WhatsApp or ask for personal details through unsecured channels. If in doubt, don’t engage.

✅ Pause before acting: Scammers often pressure you to act quickly. Legitimate companies will never rush you into decisions.

✅ Don’t share personal details unless you’re sure the company is legitimate.

✅ Never share your password with anyone. The Dodl team will never ask you for your password.

✅ Report suspicious emails to report@phishing.gov.uk and texts to 7726 (free) to alert your mobile provider.

✅ Use official channels: Visit GOV.UK for guidance on reporting scams and ActionFraud to report financial fraud.

If you’ve been scammed

Don’t blame yourself — scammers are increasingly sophisticated.

🔔 Report the incident to ActionFraud or call 0300 123 2040 if you're in England or Wales.

Seek support from Citizens Advice or Age UK if you need help understanding your options.

It's important to know

You have to be a UK resident for tax purposes to open an account with Dodl.

The past performance of investments isn't an indicator of their future performance and their value can go down as well as up. This means you could get back less than you originally invested.

Dodl doesn’t offer any advice so if you’re not sure about the risks involved with investing, you should speak to a suitable financial adviser.

How you're taxed depends on your circumstances, and tax rules can change in future.
